Attendance Policy
P.S. 326 Student Attendance Policy
At P.S. 326, we are excited to welcome your child to school each and every day! Our classrooms are safe, supportive, and joyful learning environments, and the school day is better when every student is here. Building strong attendance habits begins early, and consistent attendance in 3K through Grade 2 helps children develop the academic, social, and emotional skills they need to thrive.
When students attend school regularly, they are able to fully participate in classroom routines, build relationships with peers and teachers, and develop the foundational skills that support long-term success.
When students miss too many days of school, they may:
- Fall behind in learning and have a harder time staying on track
- Miss important opportunities to build friendships and classroom routines
- Miss out on special activities such as school events, field trips, and enrichment opportunities
- Have difficulty developing the strong learning habits that support future academic success
We understand that getting to school every day is not always easy. Students may need to miss school due to illness, family emergencies, religious observances, or medical appointments. Our goal is to work in partnership with families to ensure every child attends school as consistently as possible.
At P.S. 326, we support strong attendance habits by:
- Encouraging families to build daily routines that prioritize getting to school on time
- Creating engaging morning classroom activities that students are excited to join
- Monitoring attendance carefully so we can provide support when families need it
- Partnering with families early if attendance challenges arise
If your child will be absent, please report the absence by notifying your child’s teacher and contacting the school by:
Email: 22K326@schools.nyc.gov
Phone: 718-241-4828
If your child visits the doctor, please forward a doctor’s note to your child’s teacher or the main office so that the absence can be properly documented.
If your family needs support with attendance, please reach out to your child’s teacher and our guidance counselor. We are here to work together to ensure every child attends school consistently and feels connected to our school community.
Together, we can build strong attendance habits that help every child learn, grow, and succeed.
